Charlotte and Greensboro NC are among the top 10 allergy Capitals of the United States, as according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America's 2009 list of top 100 Spring Allergy Capitals

Investigators compiled the list "based on a city's seasonal pollen count, use of over-the-counter and prescription allergy medications, and number of board-certified allergists."

The following cities are the complete top ten: "Louisville, KY; Knoxville, TN; Charlotte, NC; Madison, WI; Wichita, KS; McAllen, TX; Greensboro, NC; Dayton, OH; Little Rock, AR; and Augusta, GA."

The foundation's director, Mike Tringale, says residents of those cities "should take the necessary steps to minimize the impact of allergies on their life."
